The day was filled with emotion as Mayor Bernard Wagner and the Belize City Council handed over a set of keys to a brand new house to 63-year-old Mrs. Merline King and her family.
Through a partnership with Atlantic Bank Limited, The Insurance Corporation of Belize, The Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan), Belize Electricity Limited, Belize Electricity Limited Golden Citizen Program, Belize Water Services Limited, Nando’s Wholesale and Mikado, Ms. Mirlene's house with unfavorable living conditions was transformed into a home that could withstand the harsh conditions that plagued her in the past.
After hearing Ms. King's plea for public assistance back in November 2020, Mayor Wagner took action, contacted his counterparts and was able to go beyond the City Council's mandate to change her life and gift her a new home. We are proud of these business community members who stepped up to assist as well as of the accomplishments garnered by this City Council through its continuous efforts.
