Municipal Climate Resiliency Initiative -Municipal Tour

Today the Belize City Council was delighted to host at City Hall representatives from the Ministry of Rural Transformation, Community Development, Labor and Local Government, Office of the Prime Minister, Ministry of Economic Development, Ministry of Sustainable Development, Climate Change and Disaster Risk Management, the Ministry of Education and representatives from the Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre.
Belize City Mayor, Bernard Wagner, Deputy Mayor Allan Pollard and Councilor Albert Vaughn were joined by Belize City Planner, Carla Patnett, City Engineer, Floyd Williams, and CEMO Liaison Officer, Melony Dawson.
Following the discussions, the team participated in a tour of some of the identified areas in Belize City that are considered vulnerable to the effects of climate change.
The objective of the discussions and site visits was to enable the development of a comprehensive and robust concept note for submission to the Green Climate Fund (GCF) which would include initiatives that enhance climate resilience, adaptation, informal settlement, unplanned urbanization and sustainable development.
