Your Belize City Council CEMO Unit, under the guidance of Councillor Natasha Pipersburgh, continues to strengthen disaster management strategies and ensures our team members are given proper training opportunities to be better equipped to assist residents in the event of a natural disaster. Recently, CEMO Liaison Officer Melony Dawson completed the “Strategy for Resilient Societies Against Natural Disasters” course offered by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). This course gave Ms. Dawson the opportunity to gain knowledge essential for attaining sustainable development and building resilient societies in disaster prone countries by focusing on mitigation, preparedness, response, recovery and reconstruction.
