Today, Mayor Bernard Wagner, Councillor
Stephanne Hamilton, and members of the Belize City Delegation had the pleasure of meeting with Her Excellency Ambassador Lily Li-Wen Hsu of the Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) in Belize.
The meeting served as a meaningful follow-up to the delegation’s recent participation in the 2025 Smart City Summit and Expo held in Kaohsiung, Taiwan this past March.
The summit was an incredible opportunity for our team to explore cutting-edge smart city technologies, innovative urban solutions, and bold ideas that can help shape a smarter, greener, and more connected Belize City. From AI-powered mobility to sustainable infrastructure, the knowledge gained will directly benefit our city's future development.
We also had the opportunity to deepen our relationship with our sister city, Kaohsiung, and engage in valuable dialogue about collaborative approaches to urban growth. During today’s discussion, Mayor Wagner highlighted two key areas for continued partnership: the expansion of Belize City’s eMobility project to include additional electric buses, and the introduction of e-bikes as part of our broader vision for cleaner, more efficient urban transportation.
Thank you to Ambassador Hsu and the Embassy of (China) Taiwan for extending the invitation to participate in this memorable event, and for their support throughout this process. We look forward to continued collaboration and shared progress as we work together to build smarter, more resilient cities.
