As part of our continuous flood mitigation efforts, the Sanitation Team has been actively digging and clearing drains along Freetown Road โ€” starting from Atlantic Bank and continuing toward the junction with Mapp Street. Work along the remainder of Freetown Road is still ongoing.

These critical works are part of a broader plan to improve drainage infrastructure, with ongoing efforts also taking place on Dean Street, King Street and the Pound Yard area.ย

Other streets that have seen similar drain-clearing operations include:ย ย

โ€ข Pelican Street

โ€ข Seagull Street

These proactive initiatives aim to reduce flood risks, improve water flow, and enhance public safety as we prepare for the 2025 Hurricane Season.

The Belize City Council remains committed to building a city that is safer, stronger, and more resilient in the face of extreme weather.
