As part of the Belize City Council’s continued efforts to strengthen flood mitigation and hurricane preparedness, Deputy Mayor Eluide Miller, along with Councillor Allan Pollard Jr. and Councillor Sherwin Garcia, conducted a site walkthrough today with members of the Council’s technical team.
The team toured several critical areas currently undergoing drain-clearing and infrastructure upgrades, including:
📍 Freetown Road (Atlantic Bank to Mapp Street junction)
📍 Queen Street
📍 Dean Street
📍 King Street
📍 Berkeley Street
📍 Pound Yard Area
These visits were aimed at assessing progress on the ground and ensuring that all works are aligned with the Council’s long-term drainage improvement strategy as we prepare for the 2025 Hurricane Season.
These important initiatives are designed to enhance water flow, reduce flooding risks, and safeguard the health and safety of residents and public infrastructure.
This proactive approach is part of the Belize City Council’s broader vision to build a safer, more resilient, and climate-ready Belize City.
