ADVANCING SISTER CITY RELATIONS: COMBATING COVID-19 THROUGH SUPPORT FROM THE CITY OF KAOHSIUNG AND THE TAIWANESE EMBASSY!
His Worship Mayor Bernard Wagner and Councillor Stephanne Hamilton (who holds the portfolio for Sister City Relations) paid a courtesy visit to H.E Ambassador David Kuan-Chou Chien to host bilateral discussions on the advancement of the relationship the people of Kaohsiung and Belize City share. During this session, Ambassador Chien presented the Belize City Council with a donation of four thousand (4,000) face masks and forty-eight (48) sanitizers on behalf of Taiwanese native NGO 'Simply Help'.
These items are to latterly be distributed to lower-income schools within Belize City as support to help students to continue accessing their most inalienable right to an education as examined in Article 28 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC).
Gratitude is extended to the City of Kaohsiung, Simply Help, and the Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) for the provision of the precautionary material which will be put to proper use as we continue to practice proper safety precautions to combat the ever-lingering effects caused by COVID-19.
