Aligning to this Council's vested interest in fostering an inclusive environment for all residents of this municipality, the Belize City Council hosted its Peewee Basketball Camp with the intent in providing participants with the core fundamentals of the game, while focusing on individual discipline, sportsmanship, and being a good team player.
This year's camp catered to eighty-five (85) boys and girls ages 7-12 who capitalized on the two week camp held at the Civic Center in Belize City.
To officially close this year's camp, BCC's Peewee teams participated in friendly exhibition matches to showcase the skills they've developed thanks to the coaches and mentors.
Following these exhibition matches, players receive certificates and school bags for the upcoming school year as recognition for their active participation.
Resounding echoes of gratitude are extended to the Ministry of Infrastructure Development & Housing, BCC's Dragons Basketball team, Simon Quan Ltd, Coach Roscoe Rhys and the support of parents that collectively led to the successes of this year's camp!
As always, Mayor Bernard Wagner and the Belize City Council continue to create safe spaces for our children to learn and grow and continue to work towards building inclusive, resilient communities driven by family-oriented events.
