On Day 2, Mayor Bernard Wagner participated in his second panel discussion at the 2025 Smart City Summit & Expo in Taiwan, this time under the powerful theme “Innovating Green Mobility.”
Representing Belize City and the wider region, Mayor Wagner highlighted the transformative journey of our eMobility Pilot Project, launched under the broader initiative “Towards Low Carbon Transport: Piloting E-Mobility within Belize's Public Transport System,” in collaboration with our project partners.
The project has already made significant strides in:
✅ Introducing electric buses to reduce emissions and noise pollution
✅ Improving reliability and accessibility with live GPS tracking via the 501 Transit App
✅ Reaching over 100,000 riders since its launch in July 2024
✅ Empowering women and students, who make up a large share of our ridership
✅ Cutting over 79 metric tons of CO₂ emissions, proving the potential for real environmental change
From concept to implementation, Belize City is proving that small cities can lead big transformations when we embrace innovation, equity, and sustainability.
We’re proud to share our story on the international stage and continue building partnerships to power the future of clean, smart transportation in Belize and beyond!
