This morning, Mayor Bernard Wagner served as guest speaker at the Electric & Hybrid Vehicle Train-the-Trainers Workshop, hosted by ITVET, the University of Belize and the University of the West Indies.
In his address, Mayor Wagner reaffirmed the Belize City Council’s commitment to innovation and sustainability, highlighting the Council’s trailblazing efforts in introducing the country’s first electric buses in collaboration with project partners, and more recently, the first-ever fleet of electric taxis—launched independently by the Council.
In support of this vital initiative, the Belize City Council has made one of its electric taxis available for demonstration purposes, allowing participants a hands-on look at EV technology and helping to strengthen local technical capacity.
As Belize moves toward a cleaner, more climate-resilient future, the Council remains committed to ensuring that no one gets left behind — supporting not only in infrastructure but in people and knowledge.
Special thanks to ITVET, UB, UWI, and all participants working to prepare Belize for the future of mobility.
