Last night, Deputy Mayor Eluide Miller attended a formal reception at the historic Salรณ de Cent, joining global municipal leaders and engaging with the Mayor of Barcelona, H.E. Jaume Collboni.
On Day 2 of the Congress, the Belize City delegation continued participating in GCoM matchmaking sessions, which connect cities advancing local climate action with global expertise and investment. These sessions, which have benefited Belize in the pas, featured companies focused on waste management, flood mitigation and adaptation, urban planning, and smart city systems.
๐ŸŽฅDeputy Mayor Miller also took part in media interviews, emphasizing the critical role of municipalities in shaping climate solutions:
โ€œLocal leaders remain closest to the people and are responsible for delivering critical services โ€” even in times of crisis. Our lived realities must inform climate policy. Itโ€™s not only about inclusion, but about making climate action real and relevant to the people we serve every day.โ€
He further highlighted the value of GCoMโ€™s matchmaking platform in building meaningful international partnerships.
Throughout the day, Deputy Miller engaged with delegates from across the globe, including Armenia and the Netherlands, exploring collaboration opportunities to advance Belize Cityโ€™s innovation and resilience agenda.
Tomorrow, Day 3 continues with additional matchmaking sessions and engagement opportunities as Belize City strengthens its global presence and commitment to sustainable urban development.
Action Starts Here.
