The ECTET Project Completion

Thu, 08th April 2021

Today we congratulate the United States Embassy in Belize, the Love Foundation as well as the Kolbe Foundation for the completion of the "Empowering Communities to Empower Themselves" Project (ECTET). This initiative which began in October 2020 was designed to target the marginalized communities in our city, and has now provided a number of individuals with a second chance at life and an opportunity to be their own employers.
We were honored to have our very own Mayor Bernard Wagner attend the ceremony today and give the closing address. In his remarks, Mayor Wagner commented on the value of initiatives such as these, that create employment and new opportunities as we try to navigate through the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic. Thanks to the ECTET Project, rehabilitated youths in the Yaborough, St. Martins and the George Street area have community hubs that will offer skill-set training to boost self employment.
We strongly encourage more stakeholders to participate in community uplifting endeavors like this for the benefit of all. We look forward to working with future innovators such as those who orchestrated this project and we congratulate all the individuals who will benefit directly from the initiative. This indeed is another victory for our city!
