Belize City Council's Public Health and CEMO Conduct Educational Awareness School Visits on Litter Prevention and Pump Station Functionality

Tue, 18th February 2025

The Belize City Council's Public Health and City Emergency Management Organization (CEMO) representatives are currently conducting educational awareness school visits throughout the city. So far, visits have been made to St. Mary's Primary School, Holy Redeemer Primary School, and Salvation Army Primary School.

The visit has two key purposes: educating students on the importance of litter prevention and its far-reaching effects on our environment, as well as the proper functioning of our pump station. Littering is not only an eyesore but also directly impacts the functionality of the pump station, which is essential for managing and alleviating flooding in the Downtown area.

By raising awareness among young people about the connection between a clean environment and the sustainability of our infrastructure, CEMO and the Public Health team are empowering the next generation to take responsibility for their community. This initiative is crucial in ensuring a cleaner, more sustainable city while also safeguarding the city's water management system for years to come.

The in-school visits will continue next week. If you would like our team to visit your school, please contact us at 227-3073 ext. 214 or 243.
