Today Mayor Bernard Wagner along with Deputy Mayor Allan Pollard Jr., City Administrator Stephanie Lindo-Garbutt and City Engineer Floyd Williams visited the Yarborough site where the construction of the pumping station is well underway. This project is captured under the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Ministry of Infrastructure, Development and Housing (MIDH) Climate Vulnerability Reduction Program(CVRP). It is a pilot project with objectives being to reduce flooding in the immediate areas bordered by West and East Canal.
The Belize City team was accompanied by Rolando Chan, Antonio Jiron, Cherene Valerio and Marco Leal from MIDH as well as IDB Team Leader Omar Samayoa and Engineer Consultant Lucien Chung. The construction of the pumping station is currently in its final stages with completion date being late December 2022.
