🌍✨ Today Mayor Bernard Wagner is participating in two impactful official side events at #SIDS4 as a representative of both the Commonwealth Local Government Forum CLGF and United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG).
The first official side event was hosted by the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) under the theme "Harnessing the Power of Migration to Accelerate Development and for Climate Resilient Prosperity in SIDS.”
As a panelist, Mayor Wagner shared his insights on how migration can be harnessed to build cities that serve as engines for economic growth and climate resilience and also addressed the key challenges in scaling up successful multi-level cooperation in migration governance.
The second official side event focused on “Revitalizing Small Island Developing States Economies for Accelerated and Sustainable Growth” where Mayor Wagner delivered an intervention highlighting collective action towards enhancing SIDS' economic diversification, building resilience and disaster recovery, and propelling sustainable development through practical steps including to utilizing the blue economy for SIDS' sustainable growth, tourism, ocean industry expansion, renewable energy, and more. 🌊🌱
The 4th International Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS4) brings together high-level representatives from SIDS Member States, the UN, the private sector, and civil society to contribute to dynamic and forward-thinking discussions on SIDS’ sustainable development progress and the proposal of a new decade of partnerships and solutions to supercharge their path to resilient prosperity. 🤝
We continue to be proud of Mayor Wagner’s commitment to driving progress and fostering sustainable development through his participation in initiatives that pave the way for a brighter, more resilient future while highlighting the increasingly important role of local governments worldwide! 🌏
