The Belize City Council joined the successful Opening Ceremony of the Caribbean Hurricane Awareness Tour 2026 during their Belize visit, hosted by the National Meteorological Service (NMS) of Belize.

Mayor Bernard Wagner joined Hon. Henry Charles Usher, Minister of the Public Service and Disaster Risk Management, as well as representatives from the National Meteorological Service of Belize, the Department of Civil Aviation, the U.S. Embassy, NOAA, and the 53rd Weather Reconnaissance Squadron.

This unique event featured a VIP tour of the U.S. Air Force “Hurricane Hunters” aircraft and brought together key stakeholders in strengthening awareness of hurricane preparedness and disaster risk management. This initiative continues to reinforce the importance of collaboration in building resilience ahead of the Atlantic hurricane season.

At the Belize City Council, we remain committed to taking proactive measures and building capacity as we prepare for the upcoming hurricane season.
