I am my own boss; the new normal!
The effects of Covid-19 has forced us to be creative in pursuing new means of employment, poverty reduction and embracing the new norm. That new normal is the entrepreneurship spirit and the Belize City Council is proud to fulfil yet another manifesto promise by introducing our Belize Accelerator Program (BAP!) geared at fostering entrepreneurship in Belize City.
This initiative was led by our Local Economic Development Unit, under the guidance of Councilor Javier Castellanos, who provided training sessions covering entry level business model, basics of financial accounting and an introduction to marketing . And while today we celebrate the success of our participants for their commitment to this program and to their futures, today we also remember the late Mr. Hubert Pipersburgh who gave much of himself to establish this project.
The main objective of this program is to drive long-lasting culture change. Our participants received the tools they need to begin a new entrepreneurial journey today but this is not where we leave them. We will continue with them on this journey doing all that we can to ensure that these new ventures are profitable and sustainable for years to come.
With this, we want to recognize our contributors like the Insurance Corporation of Belize, the Embassy of Taiwan, Almog Holdings-Blue Coral Management, Commonwealth Local Government Forum and Caribbean Sustainable Cities Network who all helped to make this dream a reality.
We are truly proud of this ongoing effort and these budding entrepreneurs who have trusted us to assist them with their vision. We cannot wait to see all that you accomplish! Remember, BAP is always here for you. Congratulations cohort #1!
